October 19, 2023•Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. has launched new Champagne and Canadian whisky brands, through a partnership with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits. The pair—Good Money Canadian Whisky and Le Bon Argent Champagne—will initially be available in 11 states: Nevada, California, Texas, Florida, Illinois, Colorado, Tennessee, New York, Arizona, Kentucky, and Georgia, with the distributor promising further expansion to come. The boxer’s new Champagne comes in Brut and rosé varieties, while the whisky comes as a 5-year-old blended Canadian whisky and a 10-year-old Canadian rye.
•Ireland’s Dingle Distillery, part of the Hotaling portfolio in the U.S., is introducing Samhain Single Malt. The limited-edition expression is the first in the brand’s Wheel of the Year Series, which will feature eight expressions that follow the Celtic Wheel of the Year’s seasons, equinoxes, and solstices. Matured in first-fill Bourbon casks before a long two-year finish in first-fill Muscatel casks, the Dingle Samhain Single Malt Whiskey is bottled at 50.5% abv and retails at $150 a 700-ml. bottle. With 10,000 bottles released worldwide, 1,500 bottles are coming to the U.S.
•Beam Suntory’s Bowmore Islay Single Malt Scotch is introducing its Timeless 29 Year Old in the U.S. market. The limited-edition offering is created from a combination of maturation in Sherry-seasoned European oak casks and ex-Bourbon American oak barrels filled in 1991 and 1992. It carries an SRP of $1,800 with 3,000 bottles rolling out globally.
•Champagne Bollinger is introducing a new global event series, Maison Bollinger, kicking off this week at the historic Astor House in New York City. According to the company, Maison Bollinger will offer “a variety of tasting moments and interactive ways for guests to discover the core values of Champagne Bollinger.” It includes a Champagne Bollinger x Chef David Toutain Gastronomic Pairing Experience, an Expert Room featuring guided tastings with cellar master Denis Bunner, and a Cooperage area with Bollinger’s resident cooper, Gaël Chaunut, among others. Additionally Bollinger has announced that it has attained B-Corp status. Bollinger Champagne has U.S. volume of approximately 27,000 cases, according to Impact Databank.
