•Campari-owned Ancho Reyes liqueur has expanded its lineup, launching Barrica, the Mexican brand’s first liqueur finished in oak barrels. The 40% abv chile liqueur is rested in ex-Bourbon barrels for two years before bottling. This is the first addition to the Ancho Reyes portfolio since 2017’s Ancho Reyes Verde. The new release carries a suggested price of $60 a bottle. Ancho Reyes was up 16% to 29,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.

•Familia Torres has announced the limited release of Reserva del Mamut, a luxury-priced and ultra-aged Spanish brandy. The brandy is made from Parellada grape distillate from the 1985 vintage and has aged for more than three decades in French Limousin oak. Only 999 bottles will be released with each coming in an oak case. Reserva del Mamut is bottled at 42% abv. In the U.S., Torres brandies are handled by Infinium Spirits, and have annual volume of approximately 15,000 cases, according to Impact Databank.

•Prestige Wine Imports has appointed Andrew Meyer as chief sales officer. Most recently with Don Sebastiani & Sons, Meyer spent 14 years in a variety of roles of increasing responsibility, including as vice president agency brands & distributor relations and global vice president sales wine & spirits. His prior experience included roles at Delicato, Future Brands, Deutsch, and Constellation. The New York-based subsidiary of Gruppo Mezzacorona, Prestige’s portfolio includes the million-case namesake wine brand, as well as Stemmari, Rotari, and others.

•Hyde Park, New York’s Dassai Blue, the U.S. extension of Japanese sake brand Dassai, has released Type 23, a new Junmai Daiginjo sake. The sake uses koji made from Yamada Nishiki imported from Japan and is made from rice polished with 77% of the outer layer removed. Dassai Blue Type 23 is now available at the company’s Hyde Park brewery as well as select on- and off-premise locations for a suggested retail price of $80 a bottle.
