•Scheid Family Wines’ better-for-you wine brand Sunny With A Chance Of Flowers will extend with a Pinot Grigio offering this year. The new varietal will join a brand range that includes Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Rosé, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Bubbly Rosé. Sunny With A Chance Of Flowers shipped approximately 100,000 cases last year, up from 11,000 cases in 2020. Scheid notes that the 9% abv, 85 calories-a-serving brand is now present in 20,000 stores nationwide, including top retailers such as Kroger, Target, Whole Foods, Albertsons, Publix and HEB.

•The final month of last year delivered the 20 highest whisky auction hammer prices with a combined value of $1,189,554, and a balanced spread of Japanese, Scotch, and American whiskies. Yamazaki topped the chart for the first time since March, with a bottle of Yamazaki 55 year old. Rare rye and Bourbon placed highly, led by a new record for LeNell’s Red Hook Rye. Ardbeg made its first appearance of the year, as did one bottle of Blair Castle whisky sold at Whisky Auctioneer. Whisky Advocate has all the details.

•Martignetti Cos. has closed its previously announced acquisition of Massachusetts distributor Quality Beverage. Quality represents the Anheuser-Busch portfolio in addition to other domestic and imported brands including Yuengling, Wormtown, Sierra Nevada, New Belgium, Harpoon, Liquid Death, and Beatbox. It services approximately 3,200 accounts with a portfolio of more than 400 brands. Martignetti, with operations across six New England states—Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island—had estimated 2023 revenues of $1.5 billion, ranking seventh among all spirits and wine distributors in the U.S.
