RTDs, Tequila Bolster U.S. Off-Premise: WSWA

January 11, 2024

The RTD and Tequila categories have continued to show the best results off-premise within spirits, the WSWA reports, with prepared cocktails up 4% in the 12 months through November and the agave spirits segment rising 1.8%. RTDs were boosted by the liquor, convenience, and mass merchandise channels, while Tequila performed best in liquor, grocery, convenience, and mass merchandise channels.

RTDs saw increases across the pricing spectrum during the period, excepting the $7.50-$10 tier, while Tequila growth was centered in the $17-$50 band, which accounts for 65% of its off-premise volume. Overall, off-premise spirits volume fell 4.7% in November-ending data, WSWA said. Still, that was better than in the wine category, where volume was off 8.7% in the 12 months through November.—Daniel Marsteller
