•Gonzalez Byass USA has partnered with Trellis Wine & Spirits in a new effort to promote the importer’s portfolio in the on-premise. The deal, effective immediately, brings the GB USA sales and marketing teams together with Trellis, targeting national on-premise accounts, including chain restaurants, hotels, and other multi-state/multi-location accounts. The goal, according to Gonzalez Byass, is to increase by-the-glass and wine list placement, while also creating special programs to further promote the company’s wines. Led by Spanish wine brands like Rioja’s Beronia and Vilarnau Cava, as well as Chilean labels like Veramonte and Primus, GB USA has volume of above 150,000 cases.

•Traveller Whiskey, Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2014, Garrison Brothers Guadalupe, and newcomers from Catoctin Creek and Royal Salute are among the offerings featured in Whisky Advocate’s latest weekly roundup. The website has all the details.

•California’s McManis Family Vineyards has appointed Modesto-based Resurrection Brands to handle sales and marketing. McManis was formerly handled by The Wine Group and has U.S. volume of approximately 150,000 cases annually. Resurrection was formed by The Wine Group veteran Matt Henderson last year. In addition to McManis, its portfolio includes Slow Press Wines, Stave & Steel Wine Co., and Gaderian Wines. McManis farms over 3,600 acres throughout California, including in Lodi, Clarksburg, and Ripon.

•Columbus, Ohio’s Middle West Spirits has completed an expansion that adds a 75,000 square-foot space for grain processing, distilling, and bottling, as well as tripling the number of Middle West’s employees. The expansion will allow the company to continue to grow its own line of spirits, which include their namesake whiskies, their Double Cask Whiskey Collection, and OYO vodka, among others. In addition, the expanded capacity will allow Middle West to boost its contract distilling business, which has developed products for companies like Horse Soldier and Old Line Spirits, and take on new partners.
