Dewar’s Expands At The High End With 21YO Mizunara Oak Offering

February 21, 2024

Bacardi-owned Dewar’s Scotch whisky has extended its lineup with a new Double Double 21 Year Old Mizunara Oak Cask Finish. Finished in Japanese Mizunara oak casks, the new blended Scotch whisky is launching nationwide, retailing at $150 a 750-ml. and carrying an abv of 46%. The new expression follows an earlier Dewar’s foray with Mizunara oak, Japanese Smooth, an 8 year old bottling that rolled out in 2021.

With its latest launch, which ranked among Whisky Advocate’s Top 20 Whiskies of 2023, Dewar’s is continuing to premiumize its range. “We’ve successfully recruited new consumers through our ongoing premiumization strategy,” brand vice president Brian Cox told SND last fall. “We’ve built a steady pipeline of premium innovations over the past few years that has helped grow the brand.” Dewar’s has U.S. volume of above 1 million cases annually, according to Impact Databank.—Daniel Marsteller
