February 27, 2024•Campari is launching Cask Tales, a collection featuring Campari bitter finished in ex-American Bourbon, Jamaica Rum, and Mexican Tequila casks. The lineup includes a Bourbon finish that sees time in Wild Turkey No. 4 “alligator char” new American oak barrels; a rum finish aged in No. 1 American oak Bourbon barrels that previously held Appleton Rum; and a Tequila finish that aged in No. 2 char American oak barrels that previously held Espolòn Tequila. All are bottled at 25% abv. Campari bitter was up 7% to 243,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.
•Treasury Wine Estates is debuting a new special edition Penfolds Grange designed by street fashion pioneer Nigo. Penfolds Grange by Nigo includes collectible 750-ml. (1,500 available) and 1.5-liter (150 available) gift boxes to house the 2019 Grange. Each box is individually numbered and includes a bandanna and bottle neck tag designed by Nigo. The special edition launched globally late last week. Treasury’s Penfolds division saw sales grow 8% to A$448 million ($294m) in the six months through December, equaling sales in the company’s Americas unit.
•RNDC has expanded its distribution of Royal Wine & Spirits to 30 states. RW&S brands included in the distribution agreement are Royal Prince, Ride & Ridden Wine Company, Slam Dunk, and Slate. These brands were distributed by RNDC initially in the AZ, CA, CO, FL, LA, SC, and TX markets. Now, RNDC will distribute RW&S brands in the initial states plus AL, DC, HI, ID, IL, IN, KY, MA, MI, MS, NE, NC, ND, NY, OH, OK, OR, SD, VA, and WA.
•Milton, Delaware’s Dogfish Head has expanded its line of spirits-based RTDs, adding new, higher abv expressions. The new cocktails are canned at 12% abv and come in Pineapple Orange Rum Mai Tai and Passion Fruit Citrus Vodka Mule flavors, both made with fruit juice and Dogfish Head’s own spirits. The pair are rolling out to retailers across the U.S. and will sell alongside Dogfish Head’s existing trio of 7% abv spirits-based RTDs. Dogfish Head is part of the Boston Beer Company.
