March 4, 2024•Brunello icon Biondi-Santi, imported by Wilson Daniels, is introducing two library releases from its La Storica collection in tandem with its new 2018 vintage of Brunello di Montalcino. The library wines will include 2010 and 1988 Riservas. The Tuscan estate, owned by France’s Descours family, is also launching a “listening project,” La Voce di Biondi-Santi (The Voice of Biondi-Santi), featuring conversations with director of viticulture and winemaking Federico Radi, CEO Giampiero Bertolini, and special guests. Consumers can access the listening experience by scanning the QR code on the proof tag on the capsule of the 2018 vintage bottles.
•Beam Suntory is extending Japanese fruit-flavored RTD brand -196 into 21 U.S. markets. The brand is made by freezing whole fruit at -196 degrees Celsius, then crushing and infusing it with vodka. -196 includes peach, lemon, and grapefruit vodka seltzer flavors. Parent company Suntory Holdings has set a goal of $3 billion in RTD sales globally by 2030. “Our clear ambition is to be the number-one global RTD player,” Beam Suntory CEO Greg Hughes recently told SND. According to Impact Databank, -196 is the largest-selling spirits-based RTD globally, up 1% to 25.9 million 9-liter cases in 2023.
•Dunkin’ Spiked hard coffees and iced teas have doubled their footprint to a total of 28 states. New markets include Georgia, Minnesota, Florida, North Carolina, Kentucky, Louisiana, Illinois, Virginia, and Indiana in the first half of 2024. The new states build on the brand’s existing distribution, centered in the Northeast. Dunkin’s Spiked hard coffees are at 6% abv, while its hard iced teas are at 5%. The brand is a partnership between Dunkin’ and Mass Bay Brewing Co.
