•The Fladgate Partnership, known for Port, is bolstering its position in still wines with the acquisition of DOC Douro producer Quinta do Portal. The new acquisition will complement Fladgate’s existing still wines from the Vinho Verde, Dão, and Bairrada regions. Quinta do Portal has three vineyards—Portal, Confradeiro, and Abelheira—totalling 53 hectares (131 acres). It also includes a wine cellar, wine-ageing warehouse, stocks, and the boutique hotel Casa das Pipas and restaurant. The Fladgate Partnership’s Port brands include Taylor’s, Fonseca, and Croft.

•Woodinville, Washington’s Winsome Cider is under new ownership, with beverage industry veterans Peter Click and Alan MacDonald taking the helm. Click is the founder of Click Wine Group (sold to Winebow) and Click Distributing (sold to NW Beverages), while MacDonald worked with Click at Winebow and Click Wine Group, and also served at Green Mountain Cidery, helping to build Woodchuck into a market leader.
