Cannabis Briefs for April 9, 2024

April 9, 2024

•The Cannabist Company has partnered with Flower by Edie Parker to launch the brand in Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, and Virginia, while creating a new line of edibles in the brand’s existing markets like Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York. The new partnership will see Cannabist bring Parker’s pre-rolls, vapes, and edibles to these new markets, including Parker’s Petal Puffer all-in-one vape, 510 thread vape cartridges, and Best Buds Twin Pack Pre-rolls, among other offerings. This expansion sees Flower by Edie Parker available in 14 states across the U.S.

•Maryland has issued 174 new cannabis licenses in a major expansion of the state’s social-equity program. It’s also the first large-scale expansion of adult-use licenses in the state since legalization in November 2022. The state received over 1,500 qualified applications for the licenses, which were awarded by lotteries organized by region, and cover retail, cultivation, and processing for smaller and larger businesses. The number of licenses available from each regional lottery was determined by population, with larger regions having up to 11 licenses to award and some smaller locales only offering a single license.
