Farm Bill Framework Doesn’t Address Hemp THC Products
May 7, 2024A legislative framework for the 2024 Farm Bill making its way through Congress avoids the question of hemp-based THC products, which have been proliferating rapidly throughout the country. While the framework would lower the regulatory burden on hemp used for grain and fiber, it fails to mention Delta-8 THC or other hemp-based intoxicants.
That will likely leave the federal regulatory vacuum on the subject intact, as hemp-based THC products expand markedly across some markets such as Texas and Minnesota, while being pared back in other states. Most recently, Georgia and Iowa passed new laws setting rules for the category.—Daniel Marsteller
