•Roselle, New Jersey’s Penelope Bourbon, part of the MGP-owned Luxco portfolio, has announced the second batch of Toasted Barrel Rye whiskey, now available throughout the brand’s distribution footprint. The whiskey is made from a mash of 95% rye and 5% malted barley and finishes in new toasted oak barrels before bottling at 50% abv. Penelope’s latest limited edition carries a suggested price of $75 a 750-ml. with only 9,000 6-pack cases available. Penelope jumped 64% to 53,000 9-liter cases last year, according to Impact Databank.

•Johnson Brothers has expanded its distribution of the Chinola liqueur brand into Hawaii, Iowa, Nebraska, and North Carolina. The move builds upon an existing relationship between the two companies in Indiana. Chinola includes Passion Fruit and Mango liqueurs and was co-founded by Andrew Merinoff. It’s currently distributed across 33 states. The Chinola portfolio will be managed by Johnson Brothers’ luxury division, Oxford Street Merchants.

•Tennessee-based Sugarlands Distilling is debuting a new Orange Squeeze Moonshine. The 25% abv offering will be rolling out nationwide, backed by a partnership with rock band O.A.R., which will be featured on jar hang tags at retail. Sugarlands and O.A.R. Previously partnered on two other products: Jammin’ Peach, a canned moonshine cocktail, and a special edition of Roaming Man Tennessee Straight Rye Whiskey. Sugarlands is known for its strong visitation at its downtown Gatlinburg distillery, which sees more than a million guests per year.
