July 17, 2024•Bardstown Bourbon Co. and its subsidiary Green River Distilling Co. have expanded their partnership with Breakthru Beverage to eight markets. Building on the existing alignment in Arizona, Illinois, and Nevada, Breakthru will now also carry the Bardstown Bourbon Co. and Green River portfolio in California, Florida, and South Carolina, effective immediately, while Green River will also expand into Colorado. Bardstown and Green River will both expand into Minnesota via Breakthru later this year. Bardstown Bourbon Co. is among the largest distillers nationally, with capacity of 18 million proof gallons. The company was acquired by Chicago-based Pritzker Private Capital for an undisclosed sum in 2022, and later the same year fellow Kentucky distiller Green River was also brought into the Bardstown fold.
•Brown-Forman has announced the latest release in the Jack Daniel’s Distiller Series line of whiskies. The newest addition, Selection #13, is a double-barreled straight rye whiskey distilled from a 70% rye, 12% malted barley, and 18% corn mash. After its initial maturation, Jack’s newest rye is charcoal filtered then rebarreled in new white oak for roughly 30 months. The whiskey is bottled at 53.5% abv and carries a suggested price of $42 a 375-ml. Jack Daniel’s Distiller Series Selection #13 is now available in select retailers across Tennessee and at the Jack Daniel’s distillery.
•Campari America’s Appleton Estate has announced Hearts Collection 1998, the latest ultra-aged rum in the distillery’s collection of vintage-dated rums. The 25-year-old pot-still rum is selected from just 19 barrels and bottled at 63% abv. Only 2,706 bottles will be available worldwide. The new release will hit shelves in specialty spirits retailers in the U.S. at the end of August. Hearts Collection 1998 carries a suggested price of $650. Last year, Appleton Estate was at 107,000 cases (+5.9%) in the U.S. according to Impact Databank.
•M.S. Walker Brands is introducing St. Elder Natural Espresso Coffee Liqueur. Rolling out nationally, it’s intended to complement Espresso Martinis and other coffee cocktails. Retailing at $20 a bottle, Natural Espresso joins Natural Elderflower, Natural Hazelnut, Pamplemousse (Pink Grapefruit), and Blood Orange in the St. Elder Artisanal Liqueurs range.
