Majority of Florida Voters in Favor of Legalization
July 30, 2024A new poll, conducted by opponents of cannabis legalization, has found that a supermajority of Florida voters now supports adult-use sales in the Sunshine State. The poll, organized by “Vote No on 3,” indicated that 64% of respondents would vote for legalization, comfortably above the 60% threshold needed for the measure to pass.
While those in favor still have the edge, the poll results showed that opposition to legalization had risen from 22% to 27% since February. Although Florida voters appear to support cannabis legalization, Governor Ron DeSantis remains firmly opposed to the measure, campaigning against the initiative with the support of the hemp-derived THC industry. The initiative will appear on ballots for the November election.—Shane English
