Italian Specialist Ethica To Import Mastroberardino And San Marzano
August 2, 2024Miami-based importer Ethica Wines is adding two well-known brands to its growing Italian portfolio in the U.S. on an exclusive basis. Mastroberardino from Campania will join the Ethica portfolio September 1, while San Marzano from Puglia has joined the stable effective immediately.
Dedicated to native Campanian varietals like Aglianico, Mastroberardino’s Taurasi Radici Riserva 2016 ranked fifth among Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of 2023. The Mastroberardino portfolio ranges from $15-$100 at retail in the U.S., where it has annual volume of approximately 10,000 cases.
San Marzano, based in the Primitivo di Manduria DOP, is known for Puglian grapes like Primitivo and Negroamaro. With U.S. volume of 20,000 cases, San Marzano’s wines retail from $15-$39 a bottle. The newcomers join an Ethica portfolio that’s led by 100,000-case La Gioiosa, along with Cantina Lavis, Villa Sparina, and Cafaggio, which combine for 150,000 cases, among others.—Daniel Marsteller
