•Casa del Sol, the Tequila brand cofounded by actress Eva Longoria, has struck a national distribution deal with Southern Glazer’s, under which SGWS will handle the label across 41 U.S. markets and Canada. Additionally, Casa del Sol has named Bacardi veteran Sean Eckhardt as chief commercial officer. Eckhardt was most recently senior vice president of U.S. sales at Bacardi, and also previously served as SVP with Southern Glazer’s. The Casa del Sol portfolio includes four expressions: Blanco, Reposado, Añejo, and 11:11 Angel’s Reserve, a blend of Añejo and Extra Añejo aged in French Oak and XO Cognac barrels.

•Islay single malt Scotch maker Bowmore, part of the Suntory Global Spirits, is augmenting its core range with a Sherry Oak Collection, while also boosting its travel retail offerings with the cask-finished Appellations range. The Bowmore Sherry Oak Collection will make its U.S. debut early next year in whisky specialist stores and luxury retailers, while Bowmore Appellations will arrive in travel retail stores in October. All eight whiskies will also be available for purchase at Bowmore Distillery beginning in October. Whisky Advocate has all the details.

•Diageo’s Don Julio has partnered with fashion designer Willy Chavarria to create Don Julio 70 Añejo Cristalino Artist Edition, a limited edition bottling of the luxury Tequila. The bottle celebrates Dia de los Muertos as filtered through Chavarria’s sensibilities and the brand’s touchstones. The release will include special activations tied to Chavarria’s upcoming runway show, Mexican Independence Day, and Dia de los Muertos. The limited-edition bottling is rolling out now across the U.S. and retails for a suggested price of $70 a 750-ml. Last year, Don Julio was up 14.5% to 2.38 million cases in the U.S., according to Impact Databank.

•Heaven Hill Distillery has announced the 18th edition of Parker’s Heritage, the ultra-limited series celebrating former master distiller Parker Beam and raising money for ALS research and patient care. This year’s edition is a straight malt whiskey made from a mash of 65% malted barley and 35% corn that matured for 14 years before undergoing a four-month finishing period in reconstructed Cognac barrels. The 2024 edition of Parker’s Heritage carries a suggested price of $170 and will be available in limited quantities beginning in September.
