September 13, 2024•Pernod Ricard’s Redbreast single pot still Irish whiskey is releasing a new 18-year-old as its first permanent addition to the range in four years. The newcomer’s cask profile includes whiskies aged in oloroso Sherry butts and ex-Bourbon barrels, as well as cream Sherry and ruby Port casks. Bottled at 46% abv, it retails at $250 a bottle and is rolling out nationwide. Redbreast had U.S. volume of 56,000 cases last year, ranking as the fifth-largest Irish whiskey in the U.S. market in volume terms. Whisky Advocate has more on the new release.
•Bardstown, Kentucky’s Chicken Cock whiskey has released Mizunara Japanese Oak Finish, the latest in the brand’s annual limited release series. The 52.5% abv whiskey is made using Chicken Cock’s Straight Bourbon with this release limited to 10 barrels. It’s now available through the brand’s website and in select retailers across the U.S. for a suggested price of $250. In addition to the brand’s yearly limited releases, Chicken Cock’s portfolio consists of Straight Bourbon and rye whiskies, a small batch Bourbon, and a Double Oak American whiskey.
