The 48th Annual Impact Marketing Seminar: Industry’s Leading Lights Convene In New York
September 26, 2024M. Shanken Communications, Inc., New York, held the 48th Annual Impact Marketing Seminar yesterday, assembling leading executives from across the drinks business. The industry’s power players convened at The Pierre in New York City for a packed program at the sold-out event, hosted by M. Shanken Communications chairman Marvin R. Shanken. The latest edition of the Seminar featured presentations from top executives across the wine, spirits, cannabis, and retail sectors.
Shanken kicked off the event, welcoming the audience to the 48th annual edition of drinks industry’s signature summit. He opened by paying tribute to three industry giants who passed away over the past year—Alan Dreeben of RNDC, Harvey Chaplin of Southern Glazer’s, and Rocky Wirtz of Breakthru Beverage—and concluded with a video showing never-before-seen footage of his 2008 interview with Chaplin.
The morning program featured thought leaders from around the business. Featured speakers included:
•Greg Hughes, President & CEO, Suntory Global Spirits, on “Japanese Craftmanship and American Innovation for the Next Generation”
•Stephanie Gallo, Chief Marketing Officer, Gallo, on “Democratizing Wine: A Steadfast Vision to the Evolving Landscape”
•Kate Latts, Co-President, Heaven Hill Brands, on “Staying Ahead of the Curve in Spirits Marketing”
•Irwin Simon, Chairman & CEO, Tilray Brands Inc., on “The Challenges and Future of Cannabis in America”
•Rocco Lombardo, President, Wilson Daniels, on “Key Growth Areas for Fine Wine in the U.S. Market”
There was also a special workshop from Total Wine & More entitled, “Meeting Your Customers Where They Are: The Future of Beverage Alcohol Retailing.” The workshop was led by:

After the morning program, Seminar attendees gathered for a Champagne reception followed by a luncheon in The Pierre’s Cotillion Room. Following the meal, the 70th U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was announced as the special luncheon speaker, conversing with Shanken on a host of topics before taking questions from the audience.
