Following the recent WhiskyFest in Hollywood, Florida, WhiskyFest Chicago is the next stop on the fall schedule, taking place at Chicago’s Hyatt Regency hotel November 15th. Attendees will be treated to top-tier tipples from around the globe, among them aged Scotch single malts including Laphroaig 36 year old, Craigellachie 13 year old, Oban 18 year old, The Singleton of Glendullan 19 year old, and Glen Moray 21 year old, plus a variety of Scottish blends. There will be hard-to-find Japanese whiskies from Yamazaki, Fuji, Hibiki, and Hakushu; and an Irish contingent consisting of the Spots, Redbreast, Killowen, Method and Madness, and more. Of course, a wide range of American whiskeys will also be flowing, from Heaven Hill, Jefferson’s, Knob Creek, Little Book, Westland, Rabbit Hole, Charles Goodnight, Bulleit, and Middle West, just to name a few. •Tequila Partida, part of the Lucas Bols Company, is kicking off a new program offering single barrel Añejo Tequilas. Available to bars, restaurants, and retailers, the new initiative is starting with 30 barrels, with each yielding roughly 330 750-ml. bottles. Businesses that purchase two or more barrels will be invited to visit Partida in Tequila for a hands-on tour of the agave fields and the distillery before meeting with Master Tequilero José Valdez to select individual barrels. For those looking for one barrel, the selection process will happen through tasting kits offered by Lucas Bols’ sales managers. Partida’s single barrel Añejo Tequila is bottled at 40% abv and carries a suggested price of $59 a 750-ml.

•Santa Julia, imported by Winesellers Ltd, is introducing Chimango Natural Malbec Rosé in the U.S. Produced from 100% certified organic Malbec grapes, the newcomer is made without added sulfites, using natural yeasts, and is bottled without filtration. It undergoes a brief fermentation with its skins. It joins the existing Santa Julia Natural range, which includes Natural Malbec – El Buro, Natural Torrontes – Ovaje, Natural Orange Chardonnay – El Zorrito, Natural Clarete – La Vaquita, Natural Cabernet Sauvignon – El Cabrito, and Natural Pet Nat – La Mantis, with prices ranging from $18 to $20 a 750-ml. Santa Julia was at just under 100,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.
