Terlato Bolsters Spirits Stable With Texas-Based Blackland

Terlato Wine Group is adding to its Artisan Spirits portfolio with a strategic investment in Fort Worth, Texas-based Blackland Distillery. Founded by former attorney Markus Kypreos, Blackland’s distillery also includes a cocktail bar, tasting room, and event space. Terms weren’t disclosed.

The portfolio includes Blackland Bourbon Whiskey, Bourbon Whiskey 100 Proof, Rye Whiskey, Rye 100 Proof, Texas Pecan Brown Sugar Bourbon, Texpresso Whiskey, Prairie Gold Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Vodka, and Gin. Current volume is about 12,000 cases.

Terlato plans to expand on Blackland’s production capability to launch the portfolio nationally, while also investing to drive future innovation. “In the past few years, we have expanded our spirits business and made a series of progressive steps developing our luxury portfolio,” said CEO Bill Terlato. “We are very confident about the category and believe consumers will continue to support great artisan brands.
