Marshall Farrer Named Chairman At Brown-Forman

November 26, 2024

Campbell Brown will step down as chairman of the board at Brown-Forman next July, to be succeeded by his cousin and fellow board member Marshall Farrer. Brown has chaired the spirits giant since 2021. According to Impact Databank, Brown-Forman ranks as the fifth-largest spirits player globally, with volume of 48 million 9-liter cases. Sales totaled $4.2 billion in the fiscal year through this past April.

Farrer, who serves as Brown-Forman’s EVP, chief strategic growth officer, will become the eleventh Brown family member and third fifth-generation family member to serve as chair. He joined the company in 1998 and has held a series of senior roles, including director of Latin America and the Caribbean and president of Europe.

During his tenure as chairman, Brown is credited with continuing to build the Brown-Forman portfolio with acquisitions like Gin Mare and Diplomático Rum. He also led the company “through periods of significant volatility, including a pandemic, supply chain disruptions, macroeconomic challenges, and tariffs on American whiskey,” Brown-Forman noted.—Daniel Marsteller
