Exclusive: Palm Bay To Handle Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte In The U.S.
December 3, 2024New York-based importer and marketer Palm Bay International is adding to its luxury wine stable with a new deal to handle the Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne brand in the U.S. market, effective January 1. Feuillatte ranks as the third-largest Champagne label in the U.S., according to Impact Databank, at 87,000 cases, up from 60,000 cases in 2021. Ste. Michelle Wine Estates has imported the brand in recent years.
“We are pleased with the successes achieved to date, reaching the 1-million-bottle threshold in 2022,” said Feuillatte CEO Christophe Juarez. “This future collaboration opens a new chapter for the growth of Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte in the USA. The country is one of the leading international markets for our brand and the first for the Champagne sector. It reflects the strong ambition of Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte to grow on the international stage, and solidifies its major position in the 50 states of America.” In addition to the U.S., Feuillatte is also among the global Champagne leaders, ranking third in volume at 870,000 cases worldwide, according to Impact Databank.
“Nicolas Feuillatte has established itself as a leader in the Champagne category while walking to the beat of its own drum,” Palm Bay president and CEO Marc Taub told SND. “We like that they are doing things just a bit differently—forgoing the traditional marketing that Americans are used to. Instead, they have created a brand inspired by the people for whom it’s made.” Taub added that Palm Bay will look to build on Feuillatte’s momentum in the market.
Feuillatte marks another key luxury addition to Palm Bay’s wine stable, joining upscale portfoliomates like Bertani, Ferrari Trento, Col d’Orcia, Rocca delle Macie, Fontanafredda, Planeta, Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Jean-Luc Colombo, Trimbach, and Saget La Perrière, among others. In addition to Feuillatte, its Champagne stable includes Boizel, Jacquart, and Vollereaux.
According to Impact Databank, Palm Bay ranks as the 10th-largest wine marketer in the U.S., with annual volume of 5.7 million cases. Volume is led by two Italian labels, 3.8-million-case Cavit and 1-million-case Roscato. Other key brands in the range include 200,000-case Lunetta Prosecco and Irish gin label Drumshanbo, which reached 64,000 cases last year.
In recent years, the company has also delved into California wines with brands like Taub Family Vineyards and Au Contraire, and expanded its spirits stable to include such entries as Jacob’s Pardon Bourbon, Tequila Bribon, and Dos Maderas rum, among others. Earlier this year, Palm Bay inked an expanded partnership with RNDC covering 31 states.—Daniel Marsteller
