•Suntory Global Spirits has launched a new consumer-focused private barrel program through the James B. Beam Distilling Co. The new program marks the first time any private barrel selections in Beam’s portfolio of whiskies will be available for direct purchase by consumers. The Beam Private Barrel Club’s first releases will be single barrels of Knob Creek, with each purchased barrel estimated to yield 100-175 bottles. A $1,000 deposit is required ahead of barrel selection and each individual bottle costs $60, with the barrel buyer obligated to purchase all bottles filled.

•Penelope Bourbon, part of Luxco’s stable of brands, has announced Havana, a new rum- and maple syrup-cask finished whiskey. The 46.5% abv whiskey is made from a mash of 74% corn, 7% rye, 16% wheat, and 3% malted barley, and aged for four years before spending a year finishing in Caribbean rum barrels and a final month in used Penelope casks that also aged maple syrup. The whiskey is limited, with only 4,500 6-packs released. Each bottle carries a suggested price of $80. Penelope was at 53,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.

•Latitude Beverage Company’s Wheel Horse Whiskey has debuted Double Oak 5-Year-Old, the latest limited edition from the brand. The 50.5% abv whiskey spends four years in the first barrel before a second year-long maturation in a new oak barrel. The whiskey carries a suggested price of $35 bottle with Latitude releasing 2,100 bottles in this batch. Wheel Horse’s whiskies are produced at Green River Distilling in Owensboro, Kentucky.

•Newport, Kentucky’s New Riff Distilling has released Winter Whiskey, a new seasonal offering. The Bourbon is made with chocolate malt and malted oats and first debuted in 2020. The Bottled-in-Bond whiskey’s full mash bill is 65% corn, 20% malted oats, 7% pale ale malt, 5% steel cut raw oats, and 3% chocolate malt. Winter Whiskey carries a suggested price of $55 and is now available at New Riff’s distillery with a retail rollout happening now.
