News Briefs for January 30, 2025
January 30, 2025•Bardstown, Kentucky’s Lux Row Distillers, part of Luxco/MGP, has announced Small Batch PX Sherry Cask Finish. The 56% abv whiskey is first aged for four years before receiving a six-month finish in Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks. The whiskey originally launched at the distillery in October 2024 but proved popular enough for the company to enter it into wider circulation. The new release carries a suggested price of $50 a 750-ml. and will be available across the U.S. beginning in February. The cask finished Bourbon joins other Lux Row whiskies like 12-year Double Barrel and Four Grain Double Single Barrel.
•Denver, Colorado’s Laws Whiskey House has debuted Super Wheater, the latest addition to the distillery’s Origins series. The straight wheat whiskey is blended from barrels of Laws’ Four Grain Bourbon and a wheat whiskey made from 100% Centennial wheat, aged between five and 12 years. Super Wheater is bottled at 60.8% abv and carries a suggested price of $130. This is the fifth release in Laws’ Origins series and is now available in select retailers and at Laws’ distillery.
•Barrell Craft Spirits has released Foundation Double Barrel Bourbon, the latest whiskey from the Kentucky-based blender. Foundation is bottled at 50% abv and brings together 8-year-old Kentucky Bourbon; 5-, 6-, and 9-year old Indiana Bourbon; 8-year-old Tennessee Bourbon; and 5- and 6-year-old Maryland Bourbon. The mash bill derived from that blend comes out to 73% corn, 23% rye, and 4% malted barley. Like its name suggests, after the whiskey’s initial maturation it’s finished in new American oak barrels. Barrell Foundation Double Barrel Bourbon carries a suggested price of $55 a 750-ml. and is now available via the brand’s website and in select markets across the U.S.
