Canada, Mexico Tariffs Paused For One Month

President Trump has paused his planned 25% tariffs on Canadian and Mexican goods for one month, after both countries pledged to beef up border security to address trafficking of fentanyl and other drugs. The month-long pause will allow for further negotiations, with the U.S. position headed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Treasury Scott Bessent, and Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick. The news granted at least temporary relief for drinks industry players warily eyeing the trade situation and its ramifications for categories like Canadian whisky, Tequila, and Mexican beer imported to the U.S.
