•Napa Valley winemaker Cakebread Cellars is introducing a new Central Coast wine brand, Bezel. The new line is debuting nationally with a Cabernet Sauvignon ($30), Chardonnay ($25), and Pinot Noir ($30), as well as a Sauvignon Blanc ($25) that will launch in select markets. “This new venture not only broadens Cakebread’s reach beyond Napa Valley, but also broadens the occasions we can serve,” said company president and CEO Mike Jaeger. Sourced from the Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo Coast AVAs, Bezel’s wines are made by winemaker Jane Dunkley.

•In 1990, on a sleepy corner of Lower Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood, chef and restaurateur Drew Neiporent (the force behind fine dining venues Montrachet and Nobu) and Academy Award-winning actor Robert De Niro caused a stir with the opening of Tribeca Grill. In the decades that followed, the Wine Spectator Grand Award winner’s dining room would be filled with Hollywood stars, wine world legends and lovers of the good life. Now, those days are coming to a close. According to management, the last day of service will be March 1. Wine Spectator has more.

Simply Spiked, the flavored malt beverage (FMB) collaboration between the Coca-Cola-owned juice brand and Molson Coors, has announced Simply Spiked Bold, a new 8% abv brand extension. The new offering comes in Signature Lemonade and Cherry Limeade flavors, both sold in individual 24- and 16-ounce cans in convenience channels. Beyond the new Bold releases, Simply Spiked’s portfolio consists of fruit-flavored lemonade-, peach-, and limeade-based FMBs all at 5% abv. Coca-Cola’s alcohol portfolio—including Simply Spiked and various other licensed drinks—has approached $1 billion in sales in recent years.
