Banfi Enters California Category, Partnering With Alexander Valley Vineyards

March 11, 2025

New York-based importer and marketer Banfi Vintners is expanding into the California wine category, taking on Alexander Valley Vineyards as an agency brand within its portfolio. “With an average price point of $25-plus, the wines from Alexander Valley Vineyards align with Banfi’s ethos of affordable luxury and sustainability-first mentality and beautifully complement our current portfolio,” said Banfi CEO Cristina Mariani-May.

Founded by 50 years ago this year by the Wetzel family, whose third generation now leads operations, Alexander Valley Vineyards produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Zinfandel from its 720-acre estate and carries the Sonoma Sustainability certification. At the top of the portfolio is Bordeaux blend Cyrus ($75). Other wines in the range include Alexander Valley varietals Chardonnay ($23), Zinfandel ($24), and Cabernet ($28), with the Cabernet totaling 83,000 cases for the 2021 vintage.—Daniel Marsteller
