Johnson Brothers Expands In North Carolina

April 1, 2025

Fourth-ranked U.S. wine and spirits distributor Johnson Brothers is expanding in the North Carolina market with a deal to acquire Albemarle Distributing Company’s wine business in the eastern part of the state.

Albemarle will transition its wine business to Johnson Brothers effective May 5. The acquisition, for which terms weren’t disclosed, “strengthens Johnson Brothers’ presence in the Outer Banks and surrounding markets, supporting the company’s long-term growth strategy in the region,” according to the company.

Johnson Brothers’ footprint spans 17 states, generating annual revenue of above $3 billion, according to Shanken’s Impact Newsletter.—Daniel Marsteller
