Exclusive: Impact’s “Hot Brand” Wines Led By California, Imported Sparklers
April 8, 2025While the wine category has faced its share of challenges over the past year, Impact’s “Hot Brand” award winners show that impressive growth remains possible for labels across a range of styles.
A total of 17 brands from the wine category earned Hot Brand honors for their 2024 performances, led by a bevy of California table wine labels along with sparklers both imported and domestic and even a non-alcohol brand. Overall, 12 domestic wines made the grade, joined by five imports.
There are three different ways to qualify as an Impact Hot Brand: a contender must have shown double-digit growth in each year from 2022-2024, or be an established player with at least 15% growth in 2024, or else be a top 10 brand with at least 5% growth in 2024 and 15% growth since 2021. The minimum volume requirement for spirits and imported wines is 200,000 9-liter cases, while domestic wines and RTDs must meet a threshold of 250,000 cases.
California bottlings account for the entire domestic wine Hot Brand roster this year, but the list includes a diverse array of price points, packaging formats, and wine styles. At the top of the ranks is Josh Cellars, which is now above 6.1 million cases, excluding its Reserve and Prosecco offshoots.
On the import side, Gallo’s La Marca Prosecco leads the way at nearly 3.4 million cases, joined by other fast-rising brands hailing from Spain, New Zealand, and Italy.
Impact’s Wine Hot Brands above 600,000 cases include Josh Cellars, La Marca, Bread & Butter, Bota Box Minis, Whitehaven, Bota Box Breeze, and Vibe by Vendange.
