Cameron Diaz’s Avaline Wine Brand On A Strong Upward Trajectory

Organic wine brand Avaline, founded by actress Cameron Diaz and entrepreneur Katherine Power, earned Impact “Hot Brand” honors earlier this year after posting 50% growth to 214,000 cases in the U.S. in 2024. Since its launch in 2020, the brand has built out a portfolio in the $20-$24 price range from various global regions, beginning with red and white blends before developing a line of varietal wines that includes Syrah, Lambrusco, and Sauvignon Blanc, among others. Avaline has now struck a national partnership with Southern Glazer’s, as the brand aims to continue its strong growth.

Bill Harlan is an illustrious name in the wine world. The Napa vintner is the force behind the sought-after Cabernet-based reds of his Harlan Estate (founded 1984), Bond (founded 1996) and Promontory (founded 2008), from vineyards carved into remote and rugged landscapes. Harlan is also the developer and proprietor of Meadowood, the region’s first luxury resort and the original host site of Auction Napa Valley in 1981. A destination for wine country visitors, the property helped define the style of hospitality and tourism Napa is known for today.

Imported Wine Players Leverage Bright Spots In Tough Market

While the imported wine category has faced challenges from lower disposable incomes and tariff uncertainty in recent months, key players are exploiting bright spots in the market. Underlying consumption of imported table wine fell 3% to 68 million nine-liter cases in 2024, according to Impact Databank, but the category remains slightly above pre-pandemic levels. Seven of the top 10 imported table wines by volume declined last year, with three—Concha y Toro (+3.7%), Oyster Bay (+2.6%), and Mezzacorona (+1.5%)—posting gains. Shipments of imported bottled table wine into the U.S. increased 1.2% to 68 million cases and 1.4% to $4.4 billion last year, with Italy and France remaining the top two origins by volume, followed by New Zealand.
