Cannabis Briefs for May 27, 2025
May 27, 2025•Oregon-based cannabis brand Wyld has expanded into THC infused drinks, with a new line of hemp-derived seltzers. The new drinks launch with seven flavors—Raspberry Lime, Blackberry Lemon, Strawberry Guava, Watermelon, Mango, Clementine, and White Peach—all at 10mg THC, with the exception of Clementine and White Peach, which come in 2mg doses. The new releases are available in select markets across the U.S. and for DTC sales through the brand’s website.
•The Minnesota state government is considering new labeling requirements for hemp-derived THC beverages, allowing manufacturers to sell 10mg products as containing a single serving. Currently, Minnesota law requires THC-infused drinks to label 10mg offerings as containing two servings. The move, according to the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild, will address consumer confusion as many of the two-serving 10mg beverages are sold in the same size cans as single-serving 5mg drinks, potentially giving consumers the impression that the higher potency drinks contain fewer calories and added sugar than the equivalently sized 5mg offerings. The new regulation is heading to Governor Tim Walz’s desk and he will review it shortly, according to a spokesperson.
•Hemp-derived THC seltzer Wynk has released a new limited-edition Mandarin Pomelo flavored drink. Like most of Wynk’s offerings, the new release comes in 5mg THC and 5mg of CBD, packaged in 6-packs of 12-ounce cans. The new release will be available through Wynk’s website and in the company’s 19-state retail footprint. SND recently caught up with Wynk CEO Angus Rittenburg, learning the brand is expecting to triple in volume in 2025.
•Authorities in California seized $123.5 million in illicitly produced cannabis in the largest multi-agency action against the Golden State’s black market. The bust seized 105,700 plants in Kern, Kings, and Tulare counties and involved more than 200 officers from 15 different agencies. In addition to recovering nine guns and making several arrests, officers said that there was evidence of illegal pesticide use at eight of the sites. “This operation sends a clear message: California will not tolerate illicit cannabis activity that threatens public safety, the environment, and the integrity of the legal market,” said Nicole Elliott, director of the state’s Department of Cannabis Control.
•Emmy-, Grammy-, Oscar-, and Tony-winning actress Whoopi Goldberg is launching a new hemp-derived THC drink, Whoop-Tea, in partnership with New Jersey’s Pure Genesis. The 10mg drink is blend of iced tea and lemonade with hemp-derived THC. Whoopi Goldberg’s Whoop-Tea will officially launch on June 5.
