•Tennessee has announced new restrictions on hemp-derived THC products, set to take effect in 2026. The new legislation, signed by governor Bill Lee, will ban THCA and synthetic cannabinoids in the state, while restricting remaining products to Alcoholic Beverage Commission-licensed stores and businesses that cater to consumers 21-and-up. In addition, the new law—House Bill 1376—shifts hemp-derived products to the purview of the state’s ABC from Tennessee’s Department of Agriculture. Hemp lobbyists, including the U.S. Hemp Roundtable and the Tennessee Growers Coalition, decried the move.

•Charlotte’s Web has launched Brightside, a new line of low-dose, hemp-derived THC gummies. The brand is launching with three varieties: Rest & Relax, a 1mg THC/25mg CBD micro dose; Relieve & Ease at 2.5mg of THC and 12.5mg of CBC, CBG, and CBD; and Focus & Flow with 5mg of THC, 7.5mg of CBD, and 25mg of CBG. All three are fast-acting, with the company saying onset time is five to 15 minutes.

Cannabis is a C$2.15 billion ($1.57b) business in Ontario, Canada, with the province selling roughly 430 million grams in 2024. By weight sales were up 16%, and by individual units they rose 14%. Pre-rolls are the most popular unit, with flower and edibles coming in second and third respectively. Rounding out the top five leading categories were infused pre-rolls and vapes, with beverages just outside the top five. While flower was down by volume in 2024, all of the other leading categories grew, according to data provided by the Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS). Despite the growth, Ontario’s cannabis industry is threatened by continued price compression. The number of cannabis stores increased by six in 2024, totalling 1,720 in the province.

•Amass Botanicals team has released Afterdream, a new line of low-dose, hemp-derived drinks. The brand launches with two potencies, 2mg THC/4mg CBD in 8-ounce cans and 5mg THC/10mg CBD in 12-ounce cans. Both potencies are also made with functional botanicals like Lion’s Mane. Afterdream is from distiller Morgan McLachlan, who is also behind Amass’ namesake drinks and Katy Perry’s De Soi label. Afterdream is available through the brand’s website, where the 4-packs of 8-ounce cans sell for $27 and 4-packs of 12-ounce cans for $32.
