WSWA Sees Spirits Declines Easing Looking Ahead

June 11, 2025

WSWA’s SipSource data forecaster predicts that the spirits market will improve looking ahead, with 2025’s projected 4.56% case depletion decrease for core spirits to be the bottom, before declines ease in 2026 and beyond. SipSource forecasts core spirits to slightly rebound to a 4.09% decline on a rolling basis by Q2 2026. SipSource’s model predicts that for the rum, U.S. whiskey, vodka, and brandy/Cognac categories, “the severe downward trend” will end, albeit with many categories still in negative territory.

For Tequila/Agaves, SipSource is projecting more stable performance, with at least 1% growth by mid-2026. “The flattening of negative growth curves may signal an encouraging bottoming out of trends in key categories,” said SipSource analyst Danny Brager. “While challenges remain, the data shows a clear transition period—giving producers, distributors, and retailers some reason for optimism as they plan for what’s next.”—Shane English
