Concha y Toro Aligns With Breakthru In The Golden State

June 17, 2025

Viña Concha y Toro USA has appointed Breakthru Beverage Group (BBG) as its new California distributor, effective September 1. The shift marks the tenth market where Breakthru and Viña Concha y Toro are aligned. Once the deal takes effect Breakthru will handle Concha y Toro’s full portfolio in the Golden State, covering brands like Bonterra, Casillero del Diablo, Frontera, Trivento, and, at the high end, Don Melchor, winner of Wine Spectator’s 2024 Wine of the Year.

Since the announcement that RNDC will be leaving California at the end of summer, Breakthru has also added Wilson Daniels and O’Neill Vintners & Distillers to its fold, with Riboli likewise recently joining the BBG portfolio in the state.

Viña Concha y Toro USA posted sales up 19% to $140 million last year, as volume increased 11% to 3.2 million cases. According to Impact Databank, the Concha y Toro brand—encompassing Frontera, Casillero del Diablo, and other labels—saw depletions increase 3.7% to 1.9 million cases in the U.S. last year, while Trivento rose 12% to just under 160,000 cases with Bonterra roughly flat at 461,000 cases.—Shane English
