William Grant Closes Deal For The Famous Grouse
July 2, 2025William Grant & Sons has closed its previously announced acquisition of the Famous Grouse and Naked Malt Scotch whisky brands from Edrington for an undisclosed sum. According to Impact Databank, The Famous Grouse is the eighth-largest blended Scotch brand globally at approximately 2.7 million cases, including about 108,000 cases in the U.S. It’s set to join the Grant’s brand—with global volume of 4.4 million cases—in William Grant’s blended stable. Blended malt label Naked Malt has global volume of 40,000 cases.
William Grant & Sons CEO Søren Hagh noted that Famous Grouse has “a strong market position in a number of countries” and said the company sees “a lot of potential in Naked Malt,” adding, “Together, these brands perfectly complement our vision for growth, and we look forward to investing in their future.”—Daniel Marsteller
