Edrington, Rémy Link With SGWS, Amid Other California Moves
July 18, 2025Edrington, marketer of top luxury single malt brand The Macallan, has aligned with Southern Glazer’s in the California market. The two companies are already linked in Nevada and Tennessee. “Southern Glazer’s extensive reach, together with their reputation for effective distribution, makes them the natural fit for our ultra-premium portfolio in California,” said Jeremy Speirs, managing director of Edrington Americas, adding that he expects the deal “to grow our footprint in this extremely important market.” Edrington has U.S. volume above 400,000 cases, according to Impact Databank, led by The Macallan at over 222,000 cases.
Rémy Cointreau is also joining Southern Glazer’s California range. Effective September 1, the deal covers the full Rémy portfolio, including Rémy Martin, Louis XIII, Cointreau, The Botanist, Champagne Telmont, and others. “Southern Glazer’s has demonstrated a strong ability to execute in the national accounts space, as well as shown sustained commitment to winning in the on-premise channel, which remain major priorities for Rémy Cointreau in California,” said Rémy Cointreau Americas CEO Nicolas Beckers. Rémy Martin had U.S. volume of 622,000 cases last year, according to Impact Databank, with Rémy Cointreau’s total U.S. volume above 1.4 million cases.
In other California distribution news, Oregon’s Union Wine Company—including the Underwood, Kings Ridge, Amity Vineyards, and Christopher Michael Wines brands—has appointed Regal Wine Company as its wholesaler for the Golden State. “Regal’s deep grasp of brand Oregon and the Jackson family’s commitment to responsible winegrowing align perfectly with our values and give our Oregon wines statewide reach in America’s largest wine market,” said Ryan Harms, Union’s founder and president. Canned wine brand Underwood had U.S. volume of 320,000 cases last year, according to Impact Databank.
Elsewhere, Bronco-owned wholesaler Classic Wines of California is gaining Provenance Vineyards (Napa & Paso Robles) and García Carrión USA (Spain), the latter including brands such as Opera Prima, Jaume Serra Cristalino, and Pata Negra. According to Impact Databank, Opera Prima depleted 440,000 cases in the U.S. last year, while Jaume Serra Cristalino was at 150,000 cases.
Last month, Bronco appointed Palm Bay veteran Casey Tedd as head of Classic Wines and executive vice president of sales. Now it has also added Art Tongkao-on as vice president of Classic Wines. Tongkao-on previously served with Southern Glazer’s, RNDC, and Jackson Family.
Finally, Serendipity Wines has been appointed to distribute the portfolio of Spain’s Raventós Codorníu in California. The Raventós Codorníu range includes Artesa, Codorníu, Raimat, Santini, Septima, Umberto, and Viña Pomal.
