Breakthru Adds Groth, Chinola, Chopin In California

July 22, 2025

Breakthru Beverage Group continues to bolster its California portfolio, most recently adding Napa Valley’s Groth Vineyards & Winery to its rolls. Groth and Breakthru are already linked across Florida, Maryland, Missouri, Nevada, South Carolina, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

Groth will be part of Breakthru’s Aspect fine wine division. The Oakville-based winery sustainably farms two estates totaling 165 acres with a focus on Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay. “Our 30-year relationship with Breakthru gave us the confidence to take this next step in California, our largest and most historic market,” said Suzanne Groth, president and CEO.

Additionally, Chinola Fresh Fruit Liqueurs has likewise named Breakthru as its California distributor. The alignment expands the companies’ partnership, with Breakthru already handling Chinola in 14 states in the U.S. and in Canada. Chinola’s liqueurs are produced in the Dominican Republic and come in three varieties—Passion Fruit, Pineapple, and Mango—all at 21% abv and available in 40 states. The brand grew 50% to 36,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.

Chopin Imports has also tapped Breakthru for California distribution. Chopin’s portfolio includes Chopin Vodka, Botanika Angelica Liqueurs, Dorda Liqueurs, Kasama Rum, Ron Carupano Rum, Koch El Mezcal, Terralta Tequila, Ojo de Agua Tequila, and Cedar Ridge Distillery.

In the wake of RNDC’s planned exit from California, Breakthru has also added suppliers including Proximo, Stoli, Riboli, Delicato, Concha y Toro, O’Neill, Banfi, Wilson Daniels, Zonin, Vintus, Herita USA (Santa Margherita), and Ridge Vineyards to its portfolio in the state.
