Rémy Cointreau Sees Sharp U.S. Rebound On Favorable Comps

July 25, 2025

While conditions in Cognac remain challenging, Rémy Cointreau reported fiscal first quarter sales up 5.7% on an organic basis to €221 million ($259m). Its largest division, Cognac, posted revenue up 1.3%, with U.S. sales rebounding sharply during the quarter.

Rémy also saw growth in its Liqueurs & Spirits unit, where sales increased 17.3% on an organic basis, driven by gains in The Botanist gin and Cointreau liqueur in the U.S. Looking ahead, the company expects a return to moderate single-digit growth for its fiscal 2026 ending next March, and it adjusted organic operating profit guidance to a “mid to high single-digit decline,” improved from a double-digit decline previously.

In the U.S., Rémy’s sales rose by double digits in the first quarter, attributed to a favorable comparison basis against the prior year. Still, Rémy’s leading brands were down 4.9% by volume in control states through May, with Rémy Martin slipping 8.5% and Cointreau and The Botanist holding roughly steady.

Rémy’s Liqueurs & Spirits also benefited from favorable comps in the U.S., with the company pointing to Cointreau and the Botanist as outperformers. Both brands have received a marketing push, with Cointreau continuing its partnership with actress Aubrey Plaza and The Botanist launching the “All we need is now” campaign around the world.

Regarding tariffs, Rémy expects a €45 million ($53m) impact overall, with €10 million ($12m) coming from China and €35 million ($41m) from the U.S. Compared to previous guidance, the impact in China has been revised down from an estimated €40 million ($47m) hit, with the U.S. revised up from €25 million ($29m).-Shane English
