August 20, 2025•Longtime Kobrand executive Gerard Yvernault has passed away at age 87. Yvernault was hired by Rudy Kopf, founder of the New York-based wine and spirits importer, in 1965, and went on to become an executive vice president credited with helping Kobrand forge partnerships with producers like Cakebread Cellars, San Guido, Taylor Fladgate, St. Francis Vineyards, Sequoia Grove, Fonseca, Pighin, Alize, and Bollini, among others, also contributing during the Kopf family’s purchase of Maison Louis Jadot. He retired from the company in 2006. “Gerard’s impact on Kobrand cannot be overstated,” said Kobrand president and CEO Marcel Aguero. “He was a truly dedicated leader whose contributions shaped our company in countless ways.”
•Oregon’s Union Wine Company has announced Underwood Non-Alcoholic Rosé Bubbles, the brand’s first foray into non-alcoholic wine. The new release is available in 355-ml. cans and is rolling out now in Oregon ahead of a national push for Dry January. Underwood’s Non-Alcoholic Rosé Bubbles will carry a suggested price of $7 per can and $28 per 4-pack. Last year, Underwood was at 320,000 cases in the U.S., according to Impact Databank, ranking among the leading Oregon labels nationally.
•Terlato Wine Group has launched a new Cristalino Añejo Tequila under the Riazul brand, adding to its stable of upscale Tequilas. The spirit is made from agave grown in the Jalisco Highlands and matures for at least a year in American oak barrels before filtering and bottling at 40% abv. The new release carries a suggested price of $138 a 750-ml. and joins Plata, Reposado, Añejo, and Extra-Añejo in the Riazul portfolio.
