•New York’s Ascend Wellness Holdings (AWH) reported a 0.5% dip in revenue to $127 million for its fiscal second quarter, ended June 30. While total revenue was slightly down quarter-over-quarter, the company’s retail revenue was up 2.5% to $87 million. Gains in AWH’s retail division were offset by a 6.4% decline in wholesale revenue to $41 million. For the quarter, adjusted EBITDA was up 5.7% to $29 million. The company attributes its retail growth to opening five new locations in the first half of the year and the continued strength of the Ohio adult-use market.
•Vermont’s Sunset Lake CBD has expanded into hemp THC with Lifted Tea, a new infused drink brand. The teas are at 5mg THC and 25mg CBD and are available in Original, a black tea with lemon and mango; and Mint, a green tea with mint. Both are sweetened with locally sourced honey, made in Vermont. In addition, both flavors are available in a lower dose of 1mg THC and 5mg CBD. Sunset Lake’s Lifted Teas are now available through the brand’s website for shipping across the U.S.
•Massachusetts-based The Cannabist Company faced slight headwinds in its second fiscal quarter, with revenue down 1% quarter-over-quarter to $86 million. Q2’s adjusted EBITDA was at $8.5 million, a slight increase over Q1. The company attributes the dip in sales to selling off two California dispensaries. Despite the drop, Cannabist points to Colorado, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, and Virginia as some of its leading markets, with the company adding its third adult-use dispensary in New Jersey in April. In total, The Cannabist Company operates 53 retailers across the U.S.
•Canada-based dispensary chain High Tide is estimating revenue growth of between 7% and 9% (sequentially) and 13% and 14% (year-over-year), ahead of the release of the company’s Q3 results. In addition to updating revenue expectations, the company expects adjusted EBITDA will rise between roughly 20% and 30% sequentially and between 0% and 10% year-over-year. “These results have been fueled by a projected 7.4% increase in same-store sales during the quarter, which was our fastest growth rate in two years,” said Raj Grover, founder and CEO.
