Impact Databank: Sparkling Wine Market Sustained By Above-$15 Tier
October 22, 2025While total sparkling wine volume is projected to decline for the fourth consecutive year in 2025, brands priced at least $15 a 750-ml. bottle remain resilient, and are expected to propel the total category to an overall gain in dollar terms, according to the 2025 edition of The U.S. Wine Market: Shanken’s Impact Databank Review & Forecast. The upscale portion of the imported sparkling wine market continues to be particularly resilient this year, driven by Prosecco and a recovery in the Champagne sector.
Gallo’s La Marca Prosecco is the fourth-largest-selling imported wine overall in the U.S. by volume and the number-one sparkling wine. La Marca is also the industry’s largest-selling wine priced above $15, as well as the market’s number-one import in dollar terms, according to the 253-page Impact Databank report. Henkell Freixenet’s Mionetto Prosecco is the second-largest sparkling wine import in the U.S. by volume, and last year extended its franchise with an alcohol-removed variant.
While higher tariffs and an uncertain economy remain threats to future growth, the Champagne market in the U.S. has bounced back nicely this year, after the pandemic wreaked havoc especially in the on-premise. Moët Hennessy’s Veuve Clicquot is the number-one wine in dollar terms among all brands priced above $25 in the U.S., according to Impact Databank. Champagne dollars increased 4.7% in IRI/Circana channels for the year-to-date period ending October 6, with volume up 2.5%.
On the domestic side, California sparkling wine producer Chandon, also part of the Moët Hennessy portfolio, recently launched a new 100% Chardonnay Reserve Blanc de Blancs offering nationally, which retails at $32 a 750-ml. bottle. And this past July, Henkell Freixenet pushed its overall U.S. volume to above three million cases with the addition of the iconic Korbel brand, the fourth-largest-selling California sparkling wine in the U.S. in volume and number-one in dollar terms, according to Impact Databank.
