  • Brugal rum, part of the Edrington portfolio, is receiving a new campaign under the banner, “Passion is what sets us apart, and passion is what brings us together.” Launching in the U.S. with out-of-home placements in New York and Miami, the campaign also includes a full digital rollout, including website banners, paid and organic social media, search, and YouTube. It focuses on the craftsmanship of Jassil Villanueva Quintana, Brugal’s fifth-generation rum master and the second-great granddaughter of Brugal’s founder Andres Brugal. The Brugal brand was at 108,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.
  • Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits has announced that Pete McLaughlin, executive vice president and general manager of Kentucky and Ohio, will be stepping away from his position to take a consulting role with the company, effective January 1. In this role, he will focus on legislative affairs for Kentucky and help mentor the next generation of general managers for Southern Glazer’s. McLaughlin has spent four decades with Southern Glazer’s, ascending to his current role in 2016. Also effective January 1, David Levitch, SVP and GM, Kentucky, and Vic Conti, VP and GM, Ohio, will report to Patrick Cassidy, Southern Glazer’s East Region president.
  • California’s Scheid Family Wines is rolling out a special edition of its Fog & Light Cabernet Sauvignon with a hand-dipped gold wax bottle. The brand’s Pure Paso Gold retail offering is debuting in tandem with new placements in Southeastern Grocers locations like select Winn-Dixie and Harvey’s Supermarket banners throughout Florida. Retailing at $30 a bottle, Fog & Light Cabernet’s special edition is aimed at capitalizing on strong growth for Paso Robles wines across the U.S. Scheid’s other offerings include Scheid Vineyards, Sunny with a Chance of Flowers, VDR (Very Dark Red), organic label Grandeur, Metz Road, District 7, Ryder Estate, and wine seltzer brand Hoxie.
