California-based importer and marketer Demeine Estates is launching Villa Sandi’s “Il Fresco” Alcohol Free Sparkling expression in the U.S. market. A new companion to the Italian winery’s “Il Fresco” Prosecco, the non-alcohol sparkler retails at $18. Produced with estate fruit, the wine undergoes “a dealcoholization process involving vacuum distillation and subsequent condensation to remove the alcohol without altering the aromatic and organoleptic profile,” according to the company.

The dealcoholized wine category has seen strong growth recently, reaching 1.6 million cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank. In addition to Villa Sandi, Demeine’s import stable includes Borgo Conventi, Boscarelli, Ca Romé, Mazzei, Belguardo, Fonterutoli, Villa Marcello, Zisola, Sassetti Livio, Domaine de Montille, Roc de L’Abbaye, La Chablisienne, Legras & Haas, and Philipponnat.
