Key Craft Brewers Duvel Moortgat, Firestone Walker Join Forces In U.S. Market

California craft brewer Firestone Walker and Belgium’s Duvel Moortgat have agreed to combine their U.S. companies. Both are ranked among the top 20 U.S. craft brewers by the Brewers Association. Duvel Moortgat USA’s brands include Boulevard, Ommegang and Duvel. The Belgian group’s U.S. volume is around 250,000 barrels, roughly equal to that of Firestone Walker.

Firestone founders David Walker and Adam Firestone said the deal will help develop the California brewer’s U.S. capacity. Firestone will continue operating independently from its Paso Robles base. Duvel Moortgat CEO Michael Moortgat said the merger “creates a stronger platform in the USA for us both and allows us to collaborate on brewing in different locations across the USA.” Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
