July 30, 2015•Rabbit Hole Spirits LLC has unveiled plans to build a craft distillery in Louisville. The company, which has been selling Bourbon and unaged moonshine over the past year in cooperation with the New Riff Distillery in Newport, Kentucky, and the Distilled Spirits Epicenter in Louisville, has agreed to acquire a site on East Jefferson Street in the Louisville’s NuLu neighborhood. The owners expect to spend more than $12 million on a plant that will produce 5,000 barrels of Bourbon and rye annually, launching by the end of 2016.
•San Francisco-based Anchor Brewing Company has released a California Craft-Pack as its first variety pack of cans. The mixed six-pack includes two cans each of Anchor California Lager, Anchor IPA and a specially-packaged Liberty Ale, whose commemorative can celebrates the brew’s 40th anniversary. Anchor first began canning with its California Lager in 2014 and has since expanded its canned offerings. The California Craft-Pack is available nationwide beginning this month.
•Bloomington, Indiana’s Upland Brewing Company is rolling out Bottled Blonde, a new brew in its Side Trail Series, starting next month. The 4.9%-abv offering is the winner of the company’s 2015 UpCup Homebrewing Competition. Brewed with Centennial and Cascade hops, Bottled Blonde has subtle malt flavor and light citrus character. The fifth beer in the Side Trail Series, it’s available on draft at select craft beer bars beginning August 15.
