October 19, 2015•Utica, New York-based F.X. Matt Brewing Co. has launched Jed’s Hard, a new range of alcoholic sodas. The lineup makes its debut with hard Root Beer, Orange Cream and Black Cherry Cream flavors, each made with a soda base from F.X. Matt’s existing lineup of Saranac 1888 soft drinks. The 5.9%-abv entries are available in bottled six-packs. F.X. Matt Brewing’s foray into the hard soda segment comes as the category starts to heat up, led by the recent success of Small Town Brewery’s Not Your Father’s Root Beer.
•Portland, Oregon-based BridgePort Brewing Company has introduced Stumptown Candy Peel IPA, the latest addition to its year-round portfolio. Brewed with three types of hops—Styrian Golding, Centennial and Crystal—along with Vienna malt and a hint of orange peel, the 6.5%-abv IPA is available on draft and in 22-ounce bombers, 12-ounce bottles and six-packs.
