January 14, 2016•California’s Furthermore Pinot Noir has purchased Graton Ridge Cellars in the Russian River Valley, acquiring the brand, winery, estate vineyard and tasting room. Concurrently, Furthermore, which offers Pinot bottlings from top California vineyards, has named Erica Stancliff as head winemaker. Stancliff is the winemaker for her own Trombetta Family Wines label and was formerly part of the winemaking program at Paul Hobbs’ CrossBarn, Rudd and Vina Cobos.
•Ed Crenshaw will retire as CEO of Publix Super Markets at the end of April, but he has agreed to remain on the company’s board of directors, serving as chairman effective May 3. Current Publix chairman Charlie Jenkins Jr. will become chairman emeritus. Todd Jones, currently Publix’s president, will add the CEO title and replace Crenshaw as chief executive of the 1,113-store retail chain, which has annual sales of $31 billion and a footprint spanning Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina.
