April 29, 2016•Jonathan Drew, founder of the Drew Estate cigar company, is moving into a spirits with a new venture called John Drew Brands. The new company’s portfolio initially will include Brixton Mash Destroyer—a 90-proof blend of Kentucky Bourbon and Florida rum—John Drew Rye and Dove Tale Rum. Drew sold Drew Estate to Swisher International in 2014 for an undisclosed sum.
•Manuel Lozano, head winemaker and chief enologist of Bodega Lustau Sherries and Brandies, died Tuesday, April 26 after suffering from complications following a recent medical procedure. He was 61. Lozano, who joined Bodega Lustau in 1999, is survived by his wife and three sons.
