Craft Brewing and Distilling News for September 21, 2016
September 21, 2016•San Diego-based Saint Archer Brewing, in which MillerCoors purchased a majority stake last September, is rolling out Citra 7 IPA. Brewed with new experimental hop varietal Idaho 7, the new release also features Citra hops and crystal malt. Citra 7 (7.0% abv) is available in limited quantities. The Saint Archer lineup also includes a Blonde/Kolsch-style ale, American Pale Ale, IPA, Hoppy Pilsner and Belgian White Ale.
•St. Louis-based Schlafly Beer has introduced Noble Lager, the third entry in the brewer’s seasonal Lager Loop series. Billed as a traditional-style, medium-bodied brew, Noble Lager is made with a blend of noble hops, including Magnum, Tettnang, Lubin and Hallertau varieties. The 5%-abv expression joins White Lager and Summer Lager in Schlafly’s Lager Loop range. Concurrently, the brewer is also bringing back its Tasmanian IPA—a 7.2%-abv ale made with Galaxy hops from Australia—as part of its IPA Series. Noble Lager will be sold through November, while Tasmanian IPA will be offered through the end of the year, with both labels available in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles ($10-$11) and on draft across Schlafly’s 14-market footprint. Operating a pair of brewery-restaurants in the greater St. Louis area, Schlafly produces roughly 60,000 barrels annually.
