January 12, 2017•Chopin Imports Ltd. has been tapped as the national sales and distribution agent for Utica, New York-based Adirondack Distilling Company. The multi-year agreement will see Chopin distribute the craft distiller’s lineup of whiskies, while Adirondack owner Jordan Karp will continue to focus on production, marketing and branding. The Adirondack Distilling lineup includes Bourbon ($28) and American Whiskey ($26). Chopin Imports’ portfolio includes Chopin Vodka—currently at about 100,000 cases in the U.S.—as well as Dorda Double Chocolate Liqueur, upscale Clase Azul Tequila ($80-$1,800) and La Pinta pomegranate liqueur ($40).
•Chicago-based brewery and restaurant Forbidden Root has partnered with the Branca family—producers of the Fernet-Branca digestif—to launch a new limited edition beer, Fernetic. Launching later this month, Fernetic is brewed with some of the same botanicals used to make Fernet-Branca, including rhubarb root, saffron and wormword. The 8.4%-abv offering will be available for a limited time in 22-ounce bottles ($15 each) and on draft.
•Boulder, Colorado’s Avery Brewing Company is expanding into the Nevada market through a partnership with distributor Breakthru Beverage. The Nevada entry brings the craft brewer’s distribution footprint to 33 markets. Avery’s lineup includes White Rascal Belgian-Style White Ale, The Maharaja Imperial IPA and a Botanical & Barrel series that includes beers such as Raspberry Sour and Vanilla Bean Stout.
